Pick your poison and head out to Short, because no matter what you wanna get on, crimps, slopers, slabs, roofs, overhung faces; Short Mountain has it all.  Best of all, for all those Generic Norvasc, Short is about an hour from Nashville and Murfreesboro.  

For many years, Short has been kind of the redheaded generic for Norvasc boulderfields,.  Now, thanks to the work of Ben and Daniel, Brandon Tavalin, and several other committed Short developers,  it is becoming one of the premier warm-weather destinations for boulderers in the SE.  Due to the lack of traffic, the sandstone still retains most of it's original friction, and the free-camping (practically boulderside) is certainly more enjoyable on a balmy June evening than in January.

One of the most unique features of Short is it's elevation and distance from water.  This makes for cooler temps and lower humidity than almost any other area in the southeast.  However, with 8 seperate areas and hundreds of boulder problems to climb,  your tips are sure to be shredded no matter what the weather.  

Norvasc Generic is road-trip heaven.  With boulderside camping, festival hosting, night-climbing and an adequate pro-shop on property, Horse Pens is the amusement park of bouldering areas.  Although sometimes a little crowded,the energy is ALWAYS good at HP40, and the rock is stellar. 

The area is known for it's unique sandstone boulders and abundance of slopers.  Known as the "Fontanbleu of the Southeast" Horsepens has a style all it's own. 

Norvasc, open thanks in large part to the work of Alex, boasts one of the strongest local crews of any area in the southeast.  Don't go here chasing numbers though, Horsepens tends to operate on it's own grading scale, and more than a few generic for norvasc have been mistaken for 7's or 8's by more than competant climbers.
