For everyone who thought that the southeast was nothing but sandstone, welcome to Jasper, TN.  About 1 mile across the river from Europa (sketchy limestone sport climbing), lies this summertime gem.  With several hundred yards of cliff-line, offering everything from water bouldering to deep water soloing, rising out of almost 80 ft. deep water, don't blow by this area on your way to Foster's.      The taller climbs here top out around 45 ft, so bring your sack.  The crown jewel of the area, Meeks Route, climbs the obvious line to the crown of the cliff-line.  The tallest route here, MR was put up originally by Anthony Meeks in early 2007 and repeated by Chris Sierzant who estimated the grade to be at 5.13b.  In addition there are over 20 additional lines that have been done, and perhaps 30 more that remain projects.

Deep-water soloing at Nickajack is completely legal, but you are going to need a boat.  Pontoon boats can be rented at Hale's Bar Marina for about $200 a day.  Otherwise, you can often catch a ride to and from the crag with local boaters for a six-pack of beer.

A limestone escarpment over deep-water soloing?  You really don't want to miss this.
