From Chattanooga:
Take 27 north out of town as if headed to LRC. You will continue on this road for quite some time until a split which is app. 10 miles after crossing 153. Stay on 27 North headed towards Dayton and continue app. 18 miles on 4 lane business highway until you see the Rite Aid on your right. Take the left at the Rite-Aid on to Walnut Grove Rd. and continue 1.4 miles to a Y in the road. Take the left and drive .6 miles to Dayton Pocket Wilderness Rd. (a dirt road across from the Old Time Holiness Church). The road will dead end in the parking area.
From parking lot:
If you head up the hill at app. 1/8th of a mile you will come to the Campground One and Maze areas.
If you head up the hill at app. 1/4 of a mile you will come to the Campground 2 and Vaporlock Roof areas. If you continue you will see the 45 boulder on your left jutting into the river shortly.
If you hike about 5 more minutes than the area on your left is the Hot Girl Boulders (across the river) with a few good problems (2 obvious aretes).
Just a few minutes past the fork of the river are the Land of A Thousand Roofs (tall roofs across the river) and the Riverdance area (small recessed area along the trail side of the river)
If you hike another 3-4 minutes on your right is a small boulderfield.
At 15 minutes or so you will reach a sign with a trail going up the hill to the right, (main trail) and a trail staying by the river (resevoir trail). Follow the main trail up right and continue for about 10 minutes to a metal bridge. This is the end of the Dayton Pocket Area and the beginning of the Laurel Snow boulders. There are several good boulders scattered across the hill directly at the end of the bridge.
Follow the white flamed trees for another 5 minutes or so and you will arrive at another Laurel Area (packed with gems).
(Please note: although the areas are named campground 1 and 2, they are named after area's that locals camp illegally. Camping is not permitted in any area of the Dayton Pocket wilderness. Please respect all regulations, clean up your trash and always attempt to keep a low profile, as with pretty much any area in the southeast)
