One of the most unique boulderfields in the country, Horse-Pens sports a style entirely it's own. With a Feng-Shui rival to that of any crag in the world and a peculiarity of movement that will leave you sore for months to come, it's hard to do better than a cold January day at HP40.
Tons of mega-classic problems on beautiful sandstone make this one of the best, and most well-known, areas in the southeast. Free camping and an awesome scene are just the icing on the cake. Rocktown boasts some of the proudest lines in the southeast from uber-steep roofs to ultra-thin slabs.
Standing in defiance of everyone who thinks that you have to head out west to climb roofs, Dayton Pocket shows that the south is about more than just slabs and slopers. A great place to get strong, tune up for a road trip, or just spend a day away from the crowds and noise; this is definitely a "don't-miss" area.
A summertime favorite with the locals, this limestone crag offers tons of deep water soloing and bouldering. You can rent a boat from the local marina for less than $20-per-person if you get a crew together, and, with over 40 lines ranging from 5.8-5.13b, up to 50 ft. tall, no-one in the crew will be bored.
